9. Entry of your choice!!!!!

Yay!! im done with the blogs.. it was FUNNNNNNN.:)

8. Answer the following question- "According to the authors you have studied, is it possible to create a Utopian community on planet Earth? Why or why

I don't think an everlasting Utopian community can be created on planet Earth although the perfection can last for a minimal amount of time. The reason i saw that a Utopian community cannot be created is because sin has entered the world since Adam and Eve took and ate the apple from the forbidden tree. Because of that sin we can never stay perfect. The only thing we can do is ask for forgiveness through Jesus Christ. That is why a perfect community can never be created on the planet earth. Many people on earth have commited unforgiveable crimes and sins, but God still forgives those who ask for forgiveness. Even the best of people have done sins one time or another. No one on planet earth is born perfect and definitely will not die perfect.

7. Are there any settings in this novel that you have found to be beautiful? Or disturbing? Or memorable? Describe these settings and comment on why t

The setting that i remember the most is when the grandma is holding on to some books with her dear life until she is eventually burned to death along with the house that the firefighters were burning down to get rid of the books inside the house. This setting was memorable because it shows me how much people can love books and would even die for them (not literally but some might). It shows me how much importance books have within them although these days it seems like books don't really have a place in society. The grandma encouraged me because it would take a lot of bravery to do something like that. She probably did it also because she wanted someone to see what she was doing and that some like Montag would finally open their eyes and see the truth.

6. Please choose one passage from the novel that is significant to you. Why is this passage meaningful? Please type it into one of your entries and co

Passage: It was a pleasure to burn. It was a speical pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed. With the brass nozzle in his fists, with his great python spitting its venomous kerosene upon the world, the blood pounded in his head, and his hands were the hands of some amazing conductor playin gall the sympnoies of blazing and burning to bring down the tattersa and charcoal ruins of history.
This passage was actually the first two to three senteces from the beginning of the book on page one. The main reason i chose this passage was because i realized how much Guy Montag changed throughout the story. That is why this first passage was one of my favorites. In the beginning, Guy Montag was like every other figherfighter; loving to burn down houses that had books in them. But then suddenly one day when his friends were burning down a house he saw this grandma holding on to the books with her life and she just stayed in the burning house until she died. Montag saw this and this is the turning point where he realizes that if someone died for the books then the books obviously had some improtance to them and that is when the dramatic change takes place. He suddenly starts to take out some books that he hid from a long time ago and starts to read them, although he does not understand a word the books are saying. But anyway that was the favorite passage for me.

5. What is the mood of this novel? Do you find this novel saddens you in any way? Why?

The mood of this novel throughout the whole story is mostly serious and gloomy and dull. The reason the mood is gloomy is because the setting is in this future time when books are not allowed in the world anymore and there are people burning everyday because they are caught with books. So actually, the mood is serious and gloomy also. This time was very sad to me because i never thought that books would become overrated. There are some happy and jolly parts during the story but those parts aren't the main parts. During the whole story it is a time when there is a lot of fire and just by reading the first couple of pages i could tell that this time was a literally dark time where many people were scared to reveal their books that they keep in the attic or somewhat.

4. What is the climax of this novel? What happens? How do the events of this novel make you feel?

The climax of the story for Fahrenheit 451 was when Guy Montag started to read the book that he kept to his wife and his wife's friend. From that point on I could feel the dramatic change in the story. That was the point when Guy Montag would have to face some problems and obstacles in order to achieve his goal. Which was to make books 'famous' again. This part also foreshadows the leaving of Mildred (Guy Montag's wife). Most of the time in books or novels, the climax is when the story takes a dramatic turn and many things go wrong for the main character. Later Mildred takes the car and leaves Montag just because he wants to read books. The firefighter friends of Montag are even thinking suspicially of Montag. At this point Montag has to choose whether he is going to carry on with trying to revive the importance of books, or just chicken out and burn all of the books all over again. In my opinion i think that Montag is very brave because if books were practically banned from the world and you would get burned if you were caught with any, i would just burn everything but Montag was different. Montag saw a little light in the books and realized that with these books new knowledge could be found and he knew that without books history would never have been revealed and education would've taken such a different course.

C) Who are the main characters in the novel? Do you like them? Why or why not? What is special about them? What do they reveal about the universal hum

The main character in the novel Fahrenheit 451 is named Guy Montag. I actually like this character a lot beacuse unlike everyone else he is different and wants change for the sake of the world. In this story he was a fireman and his job was to find books and burn them until every book on earth was off the face of the earth. Then he started to change because his life was turning out miserable and thought that the books could help. He didn't follow the crowd. He read little by little and realized that what the books had for him was amazing and that without books so many things wouldn't be discovered etc. He is special because he pursues in what he believes in and doesn't chicken out or something even though he knew that he would get killed if he was caught with books. He reveals to me that in the world we need books although sometimes we think that all we need is high technology and computers. That is wrong. If we didn't have books from the past and history then we would have almost no education along with story books and even the Bible! Books are so important to the world and the whole world needs to know that we need to keep books alive forever and as long as we can. Now with improving technology the need for books is decreasing but we still need them in the future and it will come in handy when we need it the most.
